#VāgneRiga Flashmob 2017

At the suggestion of the Riga Richard Wagner Society, a flash art action took place in Old Riga with the aim of updating the idea of the Wagner house renovation.

During the flash art action, almost 50 local choirs – altogether about 800 singers – went for a walk from the Dome Square to the Wagner House, led by conductor Māris Sirmas and accompanied by the brass band “Riga”, singing the Pilgrims’ Choir from Richard Wagner’s opera “Tanheiser”. Eva Wagner-Pasquie, the great-granddaughter of Richard Wagner, took part in the campaign and addressed those present at the Wagner’s House.

As part of the flash action, a model of the building was exhibited near the Wagner House – a proposal by architect Zaiga Gaile’s office for the renovation of the building.
